SAN FRANCISCO -- A woman is suing a company for selling electronic drum mats that contain a toxic chemical known to cause cancer.
Ema Bell filed a complaint on June 2 in the Superior Court of the State of California County of San Francisco against Samsonico USA, LLC, for violation of health and safety code 25249.5.
According to the complaint, Bell alleges that Samsonico sells electronic drum mats that contain di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), which is known to cause cancer. DEPH was listed on Oct. 24, 2003, by the State of California as a chemical known to cause reproductive toxicity. Bell alleged that the electronic drum mats do not come with any warning about containing DEPH and the health risks listed to be associated with DEPH exposure.
Bell alleges that in not listing a warning, Samsonico is in violation of the Health and Safety Code 25249.5 by the State of California.
Bell seeks the amount of civil violation of $912,000.00, attorney's fees and cost of suit in the amount of $50,000. Bell is represented by Evan J. Smith of Brodsky Smith.
