SAN FRANCISCO -- A man is suing Land Rover after allegedly being sold a defective vehicle.
Gaetano T. Basso filed a complaint on June 3 in San Francisco Superior Court against Jaguar Land Rover North American, LLC and Does 1-30 for breach of express warranty and breach of implied warranty.
According to the complaint, Basso purchased and owned a 2018 Land Rover Discovery on July 12, 2018, from British Motor Car Distributors for the total price of $102,670.24. Land Rover's basic warranty covered any repairs or replacements needed during the warranty period due to defects in factory materials or workmanship and all warranty repairs and adjustments, including parts and labor, were to be made at no charge, the suit says.
Basso alleges that within three months of buying the vehicle, he began experiencing defective conditions and returned it to an authorized dealership for repair. Basso asked Land Rover to repurchase his vehicle because of all the defaults and issues, but he had not heard anything back, which is why the suit was filed, he says.
Basso seeks actual damages, restitution in the form of reimbursement, prejudgment interest, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Basso is represented by Elliot Conn.
