SACRAMENTO - Trevon Malik Crofton filed a federal complaint on October 26 in the Eastern District of California against Target Corporation for discrimination in violation of the California Family Rights Act, among many other claims.

According to the complaint, Crofton began employment at Target in August of 2019 as a Receiving Associate. In March 2020, when COVID-19 became a concern, Crofton was placed off work by his doctor from March 17, 2020, until March 19, 2020, due to being at higher risk for catching the virus.

After returning to work for a few days, he was taken off work for another month, the suit says. This continued for the next few months by Crofton's doctor. Crofton was terminated through a letter on March 11, 2021, though he was excused from work by a doctor, the suit says.

Crofton seeks past and future economic and non-economic damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, cost of suit and attorney's fees and punitive damages. Crofton is represented by A. Jacob Nalbandyan.
