BART sued for alleged injury to man getting on elevator

SAN FRANCISCO - A man is suing BART for an injury that allegedly occurred while getting on an elevator. 

Cody Carter filed a lawsuit on Jan. 27 in the San Francisco Superior Court against the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) and Does 1 through 100 fpr dangerous conditions of public property and vicarious liability.

According to the lawsuit, on Jan. 3, 2020, Carter was getting into an elevator at a BART station and walked into the elevator arms first, when the elevator door shut on his arm. Carter claims the incident was due to a defective automatic sliding door. 

Carter seeks a judgment for past and future special damages, past and future general damages, interest allowable by law and cost of suit. Carter is represented by David Cienfuegos of Los Angeles.
