SAN FRANCISCO - Multiple people are suing Pacific Gas and Electric Company for allegedly causing the Dixie Fire.
A large group of plaintiffs filed a lawsuit on Jan. 25 in the San Francisco Superior Court against PG&E Corporation. According to the lawsuit, on July 13, 2021, The Dixie Fire in the Feather River Canyon near the Cresta Dam was caused by PG&E power lines.
Plaintiffs claim the fire occurred due to PG&E’s utility infrastructure that allowed power lines to be exposed in vegetated areas. The Dixie Fire destroyed more than 1,000 structures including homes and businesses and is the largest wildfire in California's recorded history, the lawsuit says.
Plaintiffs were caused to suffer damage of personal and/or real property; depreciation; replacement or repair of damaged property; loss of use, benefit, goodwill and enjoyment of property; loss of wages, earning capacity or business profit or other related expenses; engineering fees; appraisal; mental anguish; emotional distress; fear; annoyance; personal injuries; past and future medical expenses; and incidental expenses.
