Morgan Lewis associate Kevin Benedicto has been unanimously confirmed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to serve as a member of the San Francisco Police Commission. As a police commissioner, Kevin will oversee the San Francisco Police Department and the Department of Police Accountability, including by setting policy for the police department and conducting disciplinary hearings on charges of police misconduct.
In his practice, Kevin represents and advises clients in a variety of litigation matters, including complex litigation, cybersecurity and data privacy, securities investigations and litigation, business and corporate disputes, insurance coverage litigation, and toxic torts. He is dedicated to pro bono and has demonstrated this commitment as co-leader of the firm’s Mobilizing for Equality Law Enforcement Policy Working Group. In this capacity, Kevin has contributed to a number of local police reform efforts in San Francisco and across the United States.
Kevin has also served as a voting rights and criminal justice fellow at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington, DC. He is a member of The Bar Association of San Francisco’s (BASF) Criminal Justice Task Force and the San Francisco Superior Court Committee on Elimination of Bias. Kevin has received BASF’s Award of Merit and the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area’s prestigious Joe Morozumi Award for Exceptional Legal Advocacy in recognition of his civil rights and racial justice work.
Kevin will serve a four-year term as one of seven commissioners beginning April 30.
