California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued the following statement on the Northern District of California’s decision to vacate three Trump-era rules that undermined critical protections of the Endangered Species Act.

“Yesterday’s decision by the court, which struck down three Trump-era rules intended to weaken protections for our most vulnerable species, is a win for environmental integrity,” said Attorney General Bonta. “From the bald eagle to the California Condor, endangered species deserve protection and our commitment to maintaining biodiversity. In California, we will continue the fight to preserve our environment, and its integral life, at both the state and federal level.”

The California Attorney General's Office led a coalition of 19 other Attorneys General in challenging the rules in 2019.
