Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP Tax Practice Shareholder Ruben Sislyan and Associate James T. Smith will present before the Bay Area Young Tax Lawyers in a California Lawyers Association webinar June 15.
Sislyan and Smith will speak on a webinar titled “Practical Considerations for Non Pro-Rata Trust and Will Distributions of Property.” The presentation will discuss laws and considerations surrounding trust and will distributions before CA Proposition 19, funding an illiquid trust or estate, property distributions, and structuring transfers after Proposition 19.
Sislyan focuses his practice on California state and local tax controversies at the audit, administrative, and judicial levels. He has broad experience representing Fortune 500 and middle-market companies, closely held businesses, startups, families, and individuals in a wide range of state and local taxes, including corporate franchise/income, personal income, sales and use, property, and gross receipts and other local taxes.
Smith is a member of the Tax Practice in Greenberg Traurig’s San Francisco office. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, he served as an honors intern clerk for the Honorable Mitchell S. Goldberg at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Smith was also a volunteer law clerk in the Northern Civil Trial Section of the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division.
