The Judicial Council of California has filed suit against architects who oversaw the construction of the Siskiyou County courthouse, saying the architects owe $3 million to compensate the Council for repairs needed to remedy the courthouse's alleged deficient design.

On Feb. 22, the Judicial Council filed its lawsuit in San Francisco County Superior Court against architecture firm Esherick Homsey Dodge and Davis, of San Francisco.

According to the lawsuit, the Council hired the firm in 2011 to provide architectural services as part of the $78 million project to build the new courthouse in Siskiyou County, which includes Mt. Shasta, along the Oregon stateline. According to the complaint, the project was completed in 2021.

However, the lawsuit asserts that since 2020, the Judicial Council and its investigations revealed a variety of problems with the building, which they say the EHDD firm is at least partially responsible for.

The council is seeking $3 million in damages to cover the cost of repairs, plus attorney fees.

The Judicial Council is represented by attorneys Jessica Ehrlich and Jonathan Velasquez, of the firm of Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost, of Los Angeles.
