In a lawsuit filed in the Court of Appeal of the State of California, First Appellate District, Division Two, Jeffrey Won Long Young and others are plaintiffs against CEP America LLC and others. The case ID is A166276 and it was filed in San Francisco County Superior Court under case number CGC16554619. The filing date is April 25, 2024.

The lawsuit involves three physician assistants who sued their employer for employment-related statutory violations. They also alleged PAGA claims under the Labor Code Private Attorneys General Act of 2004. After years of litigation and mediation, a proposed settlement was presented to the trial court in 2020.

The trial court approved the settlement in June 2022 despite defendants' attempts to withdraw their support for approval and compel arbitration of the PAGA claims. The defendants argued that as a matter of law, the trial court was required to grant their motion to compel arbitration.
