In the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, plaintiff John William Bell, an individual doing business as Bell Painting, has filed a lawsuit against David Levoy, an individual doing business as David Levoy Insurance Agency Inc., and Does 1 through 100. The case number is CGC-24-614130 and was filed on April 22, 2024. The plaintiff's attorney is Douglas J. Rosner from the Law Offices of Douglas Joseph Rosner.

John William Bell alleges that David Levoy misrepresented himself as a licensed insurance broker specializing in commercial insurance. According to the court filing, Bell contacted Levoy around 2015 to purchase certain insurance policies for his construction company. He further claims that Levoy's employees Sara Godbee and Marissa Pontius are not licensed with the California Department of Insurance.

The plaintiff alleges that he received inadequate service from Levoy's agency which led to complications with his liability insurance renewal in February 2018. He argues that necessary follow-up communications were not made to complete underwriting questions for his Artisan Application.

Bell seeks judgment against all defendants for damages caused by their alleged misconduct. He demands a jury trial and asserts that each defendant was in some manner responsible for the events set forth in his complaint.
