Greenberg Traurig, LLP Tax Practice Shareholders Shail P. Shah and Ruben Sislyan will present at the 2024 Tax Executives Institute (TEI) Region 10 Conference May 23.
The 44th Annual TEI Region 10 Tax Conference will be held at The Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club in Dana Point. Fellow in-house tax professionals will gather to discuss tax issues with peers.
Shah will present “Federal/State Conformity issues” during the conference, covering some of the nuances, and oftentimes unexpected results, due to a lack of conformity between state and federal tax laws.
Sislyan will speak on the “Audits and controversy” panel during the conference, discussing the procedural aspects of California state and local tax audits, appeals, and court actions.
Shah has been helping clients address California tax problems for more than 15 years. His clients range from Fortune 25 companies to high-net-worth individuals. Shah focuses his practice on complex California tax planning and representation in front of the California Franchise Tax Board, California Department of Taxation and Fee Administration, Office of Tax Appeals, Board of Equalization, and various administrative and judicial adjudicating forums at both the state and local levels. He provides advice on both proactive residency planning and residency audit defense.
Sislyan focuses his practice on California state and local tax controversies at the audit, administrative, and judicial levels. He has broad experience representing Fortune 500 and middle-market companies, closely held businesses, startups, families, and individuals in a wide range of state and local taxes, including corporate franchise/income, personal income, sales and use, property, and gross receipts and other local taxes.
