Man sues Bob Jahn’s Roofing over ladder accident injuries

David Read and Christine Read have filed a personal injury complaint against Bob Jahn’s Roofing, Inc. The lawsuit was filed on May 22, 2024, in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento.

The plaintiffs allege that on June 29, 2022, David Read was working as an inspector for Sacramento County at a property located at 3330 Ben Lomond Drive in Sacramento. During his inspection, he used a ladder provided by Bob Jahn’s Roofing, Inc., which was allegedly set up improperly and not secured correctly. As a result, the ladder caused David to fall to the ground, leading to significant injuries. The complaint states that the defendants negligently directed, required, caused, permitted, constructed, managed and maintained the ladder in a dangerous condition which ultimately led to David's injuries.

According to the filing, David Read suffered both economic and non-economic damages due to this incident. Economic damages include past and future medical expenses, loss of income and earning capacity, loss of ability to provide household services, incidental and consequential damages. Non-economic damages encompass physical and mental suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, physical impairment, inconvenience, anxiety and emotional distress.

The plaintiffs are seeking several forms of relief from the court. They request non-economic damages exceeding the jurisdictional limit of the court along with all medical expenses according to proof. They also seek compensation for lost earnings according to proof and prejudgment interest as permitted by law. Additionally, they are asking for all costs associated with the suit and any other relief deemed just and proper by the court.

In addition to David Read's claims for personal injury damages, Christine Read has filed a second cause of action for loss of consortium. She alleges that as a direct result of her husband's injuries she has suffered a loss of companionship and services including comfort care assistance protection affection society moral support as well as enjoyment of sexual relations.

Christine Read is also seeking noneconomic damages exceeding the jurisdictional limits of the court along with prejudgment interest costs associated with the suit and any other relief deemed just proper by court
