A Sacramento resident has filed a lawsuit against a local bar, alleging severe injuries resulting from an assault by the establishment's employees. The complaint was filed by Isaac Robles in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, on June 28, 2024, targeting Badlands Sacramento and associated parties.

Isaac Robles' lawsuit claims that on May 4, 2023, while he was lawfully present at Badlands Sacramento located at 2003 K Street, he was assaulted by one or more employees of the bar. The defendants named in the suit include Badlands Sacramento, Trelawny J. Bruce (also known as Bruce J. Trelawny or TJ Bruce), the Trelawny Jonathan Bruce Trust, the Marjorie I. Bruce Revocable Trust, and fifty unnamed individuals referred to as DOES 1 through 50. According to Robles' complaint, these entities are collectively responsible for his injuries due to their negligent supervision and failure to control their employees.

Robles alleges that the defendants negligently hired and retained dangerously violent employees without proper training or supervision. He asserts that this negligence directly led to his assault and subsequent severe injuries. "Defendants negligently failed to protect Plaintiff and moreover caused, permitted, and allowed Defendants’ employee or employees...to assault, batter and inflict grievous harm to Plaintiff," states the complaint. Robles contends that these dangerous conditions were known or should have been known by the defendants and that they failed to take reasonable steps to mitigate these risks.

The lawsuit details how Robles sustained significant physical and psychological trauma from the incident. He claims ongoing pain and suffering along with permanent disability resulting from his injuries. Furthermore, Robles has incurred substantial medical expenses for treatment and care due to the assault. The plaintiff also notes that he has been unable to attend his usual occupation since the incident and anticipates continued inability to work in the future.

In addition to general damages exceeding $35,000 for physical pain, mental suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life, Robles seeks special damages for wage loss, loss of earning capacity, medical expenses, and loss of household services. He is also asking for prejudgment interest on these damages calculated from when the cause of action arose as per California Civil Code provisions.

Representing Isaac Robles is attorney Andrew G. Minney from Clayeo C. Arnold’s law firm based in Sacramento. The case is being overseen by Judge B. Singh under Case No.: A4clw od a1 13.
