A 29-year-old woman from Sunnyvale has filed a negligence lawsuit against a beauty clinic and its staff, alleging severe injuries from a cosmetic laser treatment. Mengge Wang lodged the complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, on July 2, 2024, targeting Wink Beauty, Inc., Sharon Kate Chin, PA-C, and Dr. Paul Laband.

According to the complaint, Mengge Wang sought cosmetic laser treatments at Wink Beauty's Mountain View location on July 23, 2023. The procedure was performed by Sharon Kate Chin, a registered physician’s assistant at the clinic. Wang alleges that during the "M22" IPL Laser treatment administered by Chin, she experienced severe pain and sustained permanent cosmetic damage to her face. The plaintiff asserts that the injuries were due to negligence on the part of the defendants.

Wang claims that immediately following the procedure, she suffered burns, blisters, swelling, discoloration, and redness on her face. She sought emergency medical treatment the next day. The lawsuit further alleges that Wink Beauty admitted fault by acknowledging that the laser machine settings were too high and assured Wang they would take responsibility for her injuries.

The complaint details that Dr. Paul Laband was supposed to be supervising but never communicated directly with Wang or met her at any point before or after the procedure. This lack of oversight is cited as contributing to the negligent care provided.

Wang's legal action accuses Wink Beauty and its staff of failing to exercise reasonable care and skill expected from licensed healthcare providers in their community. She claims this negligence has led to significant physical injuries causing ongoing pain and suffering as well as emotional distress.

In her lawsuit, Wang seeks compensatory damages for medical expenses incurred due to her injuries and anticipates future costs related to ongoing medical care. She also demands relief for her pain and suffering both physically and emotionally.

Representing Mengge Wang is attorney Mark D. Rosenberg from Los Altos-based Law Offices of Mark D. Rosenberg. The case has been assigned Case No. 24CV442349 in front of Judge J. Nguyen.
