A woman has filed a lawsuit against a medical center and a doctor, alleging severe negligence during her labor and delivery. Amanda Herrera filed the complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, on July 31, 2024, against Sutter Roseville Medical Center and Dr. Ahmed Uddin.
According to the court documents, Herrera claims that on or around August 7, 2023, she received negligent medical treatment at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. The lawsuit alleges that Dr. Ahmed Uddin and other unnamed defendants administered multiple epidural injections improperly, leading to an overdose that adversely affected her labor and delivery process. "Ms. Herrera was required to undergo an extremely painful labor and delivery," states the complaint. As a result of this alleged malpractice, Herrera has suffered ongoing medical complications requiring continuous care.
The complaint further details that both Sutter Roseville Medical Center and Dr. Uddin failed to meet the standard of care expected from medical professionals. "Plaintiff's injuries arose from the negligence of defendants by failing to properly treat Plaintiff," reads one section of the document. The lawsuit accuses all parties involved of being responsible for causing physical harm and emotional distress due to their lack of proper care.
Herrera is seeking several forms of relief from the court. She requests general damages exceeding $25,000 as well as compensation for all past and future medical expenses related to her injuries. Additionally, she seeks reimbursement for incidental costs incurred due to the alleged negligence and asks for prejudgment interest on both general and special damages dating back to the incident.
