A Sacramento resident has filed a lawsuit following a motor vehicle accident that left her with significant injuries and financial losses. The complaint was filed by Tajane Marie Kelly in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, on July 31, 2024, against Brian Edwin Blanton and Angela Blanton.

According to the court documents, the incident occurred on February 20, 2024. Plaintiff Tajane Marie Kelly alleges that she was driving her vehicle at the intersection of Lemon Hill and Logan Street in Sacramento when Brian Edwin Blanton collided with her car. The complaint states that both Brian and Angela Blanton were responsible for the accident as they were either operating or had control over the 2017 Honda Accord involved in the crash.

Kelly's lawsuit claims that the defendants negligently managed, maintained, controlled, owned, and operated their vehicle, leading to the collision. "Defendants so negligently and carelessly entrusted, managed, maintained, controlled, owned and operated their aforesaid motor vehicle so as to proximately cause this accident," reads a portion of the complaint. As a result of this alleged negligence, Kelly asserts she sustained injuries affecting her health and well-being. She describes suffering from physical pain and mental anguish that continues to affect her daily life.

The plaintiff further details how these injuries have led to substantial medical expenses due to ongoing treatment from physicians and surgeons. Additionally, Kelly mentions that she has been unable to attend her usual occupation since the accident, resulting in a loss of earnings. She anticipates future loss of income as well due to continued inability to work.

Moreover, Kelly's vehicle was damaged in the collision which has deprived her of its use and caused additional financial strain. The complaint also requests prejudgment interest on any damages awarded from the time the cause of action arose as stipulated under California Civil Code.

In terms of relief sought from the court, Kelly is asking for general damages exceeding the jurisdictional limits of the court along with compensation for lost earnings and earning capacity. She is also seeking reimbursement for medical expenses and other incidental costs incurred due to the accident. Additionally, she requests prejudgment interest on any awarded damages calculated from when the cause of action arose.

Representing Tajane Marie Kelly is attorney Matthew P. Donahue from Donahue Law Corporation based in Folsom, California. The case is being overseen by Judge M. Chapman under Case No. SArteyrotsSs4a.
