A California resident has filed a lawsuit against a chiropractic clinic and one of its practitioners, alleging medical malpractice that resulted in severe injury. On September 6, 2024, Nadira Chouicha filed a complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, against River City Chiropractic and Dr. Placido Castrejon.

According to the complaint, Chouicha visited River City Chiropractic on August 25, 2023, seeking treatment for neck and back pain. Initially hesitant because she had not previously been treated by Dr. Castrejon, she eventually allowed him to adjust her back. On a subsequent visit on September 25, 2023, Dr. Castrejon performed a different type of adjustment that caused Chouicha significant pain. Despite her cries of distress during the procedure, Dr. Castrejon continued the treatment, which allegedly resulted in a broken rib.

Chouicha claims that both Dr. Castrejon and River City Chiropractic failed to exercise the standard care expected from professionals in their field. The complaint states: "The Defendants negligently cared for, diagnosed, and treated Plaintiff and failed to exercise the standard of care and skill ordinarily and reasonably required of chiropractors." This alleged negligence led to severe physical injuries as well as mental anguish for Chouicha.

The plaintiff is seeking various forms of relief from the court. She demands general damages exceeding $25,000 for her physical injuries and emotional suffering. Additionally, she seeks compensation for past and future medical expenses incurred due to the alleged malpractice. The lawsuit also requests coverage for all legal costs associated with bringing the case to court and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Chouicha is William L. Brelsford Jr., an attorney from Brelsford Androvich & White law firm based in Sacramento. The case has been assigned Case No. 24c'3fO1 er rae at the Superior Court of California in Sacramento County.
