Greenberg Traurig, LLPTax Practice Co-Chair G. Michelle Ferreira will speak on the San Francisco Tax Club program “Privilege Protections and Ethical Issues in Attorney-Accountant Collaboration" Sept. 19.
The program will cover attorney-client and -work product privilege and ethical issues regarding collaborations between accountants and lawyers in audit matters. Ferreira will also discuss other ethical issues that arise out of working with both the legal and accounting fields.
Ferreira is senior vice president of the firm and co-managing shareholder of the San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. She counsels individuals, partnerships, estates, and corporations in tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and state and local tax agencies, including the California Franchise Tax Board, the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, the Employment Development Department, and county assessment appeals boards.
As a former tax litigator for the Internal Revenue Service, Ferreira brings unique experience to clients who have complex and sensitive tax and penalty disputes. She represents clients before the IRS and state and local tax agencies at the audit, collection, appeals, and litigation stages.
