Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that Zach P. Hutton has joined the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group in San Francisco. Previously Hutton was co-chair of Paul Hastings' nationwide Wage and Hour practice group and chair of its San Francisco Employment Law department.
Hutton advises and litigates on behalf of clients in matters involving discrimination and harassment claims, family and medical leaves, and complex wage and hour disputes. He represents employers across the technology, retail, financial services, staffing, hospitality, healthcare and insurance industries in class and collective actions, agency investigations, individual plaintiff claims and administrative hearings. Hutton has tried numerous cases to verdict and secured early dismissal of individual and class claims. He has been recognized as a leader in labor and employment law by Chambers USA, Legal 500 US, Best Lawyers in America and the Daily Journal.
“Zach is a leading practitioner in wage and hour litigation and class action defense who adds tremendous value in helping clients limit their exposure to litigation risks in matters across the nation,” said Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard Mullin. “Exceptional lawyers like Zach join our premier Labor and Employer practice to handle groundbreaking issues for employers.”
Jason Kearnaghan, co-leader of the Labor and Employment practice group, added, “Zach brings a sophisticated understanding of the labor and employment issues facing businesses today. We are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”
“Sheppard Mullin is the destination for labor and employment law,” said Hutton. “The depth and breadth of the firm’s full-service capabilities will serve my clients well. I look forward to building on the firm’s already successful platform throughout the country.”
San Francisco office managing partner Robert Guite added, “We’re excited to welcome Zach to our thriving Labor and Employment practice. Zach is the 26th partner to join Sheppard Mullin this year, following energy partner Jennifer Brough who joined us in San Francisco last month.”
Hutton received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. While in law school, he served as an extern to Justice Marvin R. Baxter of the California Supreme Court.
