An alarming incident at a Sacramento Chevron gas station has led to a lawsuit that could have significant repercussions for the company. On September 19, 2024, Daniel Stinson filed a complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of Sacramento, against Chevron U.S.A. Inc., Chevron Store No. 90812, and several unnamed defendants.

According to the complaint, Stinson alleges that on January 24, 2024, he suffered injuries after slipping and falling on liquid at the entrance of a convenience store located at 1940 65th Street in Sacramento. The plaintiff asserts that this hazardous condition was due to negligence on the part of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., Chevron Store No. 90812, and their employees. Stinson claims that these entities either created or failed to address the dangerous condition in a timely manner.

Stinson's legal team argues that the defendants were responsible for maintaining safe premises but failed to do so adequately. "The dangerous condition existed for a sufficiently long period of time for Defendants to have discovered, removed or remedied it," reads the complaint. It further alleges that both Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and its store knew or should have known about the hazardous condition but neglected their duty to ensure customer safety.

The plaintiff is seeking various forms of relief from the court, including economic damages for past and future medical expenses, loss of income and earning capacity, as well as noneconomic damages such as physical and mental suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, and emotional distress. Additionally, Stinson is asking for prejudgment interest and coverage of all legal costs associated with the suit.

Representing Daniel Stinson is Nolan R. Jones from Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood Campora LLP based in Sacramento. The case has been assigned Case ID: 240 V018805.
