In a dramatic legal turn, a California-based company has filed a lawsuit alleging fraud and breach of contract against multiple defendants, including an individual and two corporations. On January 22, 2025, EVEN/ODD, LLC initiated the complaint in the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco, targeting James Grant, AboutTime Community, Inc., and Higher Power Productions, LLC.

The case revolves around an agreement for film production services between EVEN/ODD, LLC and the defendants. According to the complaint, EVEN/ODD claims that after fulfilling their contractual obligations under the agreement with the defendants, they were left unpaid for their services. The plaintiff alleges that the defendants misrepresented facts to induce performance and subsequently failed to honor their financial commitments. The complaint accuses James Grant of being the alter ego of both AboutTime Community, Inc., a Delaware corporation operating in San Francisco, and Higher Power Productions, LLC from Wyoming. This connection allegedly facilitated fraudulent activities that harmed EVEN/ODD.

EVEN/ODD's accusations include several counts: fraud through intentional misrepresentation and concealment; breach of contract; account stated; open book account; and money had and received. They assert that the defendants owe them $193,941.59 for services rendered but not compensated. The plaintiff argues that "Defendants’ representations were false" and made recklessly without regard for truthfulness. Moreover, they claim reliance on these misrepresentations caused substantial harm.

The relief sought by EVEN/ODD is extensive. They request judgment for at least $193,941.59 along with general damages, special damages, economic damages, rescission of agreements where applicable, an accounting to trace funds owed or mishandled by defendants, injunctive relief to prevent further harm or injustice during proceedings if necessary—punitive damages reflecting malicious intent behind actions taken against them—and interest plus costs associated with bringing this suit forward including reasonable attorney fees incurred throughout litigation processes involved here too!

Representing EVEN/ODD is Ali A. Aalaei from Ari Law P.C., based in Portola Valley CA 94028 while no information regarding defense counsel has been provided yet within documents available thus far nor presiding judge overseeing case number CGC-25-621674.
