SAN FRANCISCO – A couple is seeking damages following an incident in which the husband allegedly suffered an infection and complications.

Eric W. Dean and Debra Gayle Dean filed a complaint on Dec. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against St. Joseph Health, St. Joseph Hospital of Eureka, Dr. Damian Angelo De Francesch and Does 1-50, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Eric Dean was admitted to St. Joseph Hospital's emergency room on July 6, 2014, for surgery, where he was diagnosed with perforated diverticulitis. On July 18, 2014, the plaintiff was re-admitted to the emergency room, complaining of infection and unhealed wounds, the suit states. On Sept. 4, 2014, he was allegedly admitted again, complaining of infection, leakage and abscess formation. On April 16, 2015, he was purportedly admitted again complaining of further complications. The plaintiffs are suing the facilities and medical professionals claiming failure to deliver the standard of care necessary and overall negligence.
