Chinese robotics company alleges breach of contract in solar panel deal

SAN FRANCISCO — A Chinese robotics company is suing a California-based corporation over breach of contract of the two company’s master supply agreement.

REIS Robotics Co. Ltd. filed suit Dec. 28, 2015, in the Northern District of California District Court against MiaSolè Hi-Tech Corp. and MiaSolè Inc.

According to the suit, MiaSolè Hi-Tech manufactures solar panels and REIS was the leading technology company for robot and system integration. On or about Oct. 27, 2014, the two companies signed a mater supply agreement, the suit states, with a total cost of products and services of $21 million. According to the suit, MiaSolè Hi-Tech ordered two assembly line systems from REIS to be designed for the production of the solar panels. By Dec. 8, 2015, MiaSolè Hi-Tech did not provide any payment for one of the assembly lines and did not provide a letter of credit with respect to the other assembly line, the suit alleges. $13,399,640 of the $21 million allegedly remained unpaid.

REIS is seeking compensatory damages of $13,399,640, prejudgment interest and an order the defendants to perform their obligations under the master agreement. Rhonda R. Trotter and Oscar Ramallo of Kaye Scholer LLP in Los Angeles will represent the plaintiff.
