SAN FRANCISCO – A patient has filed a suit against a hospital over allegations that he was attacked by a fellow patient.
Benjamin Snow filed a complaint on March 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against California Department of State Hospitals, Dolly Matteucci, Cindy Black, Katie Cooper, and Does 1 through 20, citing negligence, violation of the 14th Amendment and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 9, 2015, he was attacked by a fellow patient inside Napa State Hospital. The suit states the plaintiff was beaten and strangled inside his own room, and as a result plaintiff suffered multiple injuries. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly left the patient unattended and only learned of the assault when the attacker walked back to the nurse's station to inform them of what happened.
The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for all damages, legal fees and any other relief this court deems just and proper. He is represented by Karl J. Frisinger of Coombs & Dunlap LLP in Napa.
