FRESNO – A Rosamond woman is accusing two companies of robocalling her in an attempt to collect a debt.

Sheila S. Jackman filed a complaint on March 7 in the U.S. District Court Eastern District of California, Fresno Division against Aaron's Inc. and Sultan Financial Corp., citing violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 24, 2015, she received a call from the defendants in an attempt to collect a debt she owed and requested that the defendants not call her and communicate through mail only. The plaintiff holds Aaron's Inc. and Sultan Financial Corp. responsible because the defendants allegedly continued to call plaintiff using an automatic telephone dialing system.

The plaintiff seeks the following: statutory damages, all legal fees, and any other relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Trinette G. Kent of Lemberg Law LLC in Wilton, Connecticut.
