SACRAMENTO – A Fresno man is suing a food manufacturer alleging that it wrongfully advertised its Parmesan cheese products with misleading labels.

John Lewis has filed a class-action lawsuit on March 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Kraft Heinz Foods Co., and Does 1-10, citing fraud, negligent misrepresentation and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he purchased a product that says 100 percent Parmesan cheese but 3.8 percent of the product is actually cellulose. The plaintiff holds Kraft Heinz Foods Co. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendant allegedly advertised its product with misleading labels that can cause confusion to consumers.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for all damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just and proper. He is represented by Michael McShane and S. Clinton Woods of Audet & Partners LLP in San Francisco, Charles J. LaDuca of Cuneo Gilbert & Laduca LLP in Bethesda, Maryland; and Melissa W. Wolchansky of Halunen Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
