MARSHALL — Porto Technology Co. LTD. is suing Samsung Electronics America Inc., and Samsung Telecommunications America LLC., citing alleged copyright infringement and patent infringement.
The Korean company filed a complaint on April 3 in the Marshall Division of the Southern District of Texas against the defendants, alleging that they wrongfully infringed patents currently owned by the plaintiff.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Porto Technology Co. LTD. suffered damages to its business as a result of its patent being used without authorization. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly distributes cellular phones that used map application software that infringes patents currently registered for the plaintiff.
The plaintiff seeks compensation for permanent injunction, all damages plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just and proper. They are represented by Hao Ni, Timothy T. Wang, Neal G. Massand and Stevenson Moore V of Ni, Wang & Massand PLLC in Dallas.
