SAN FRANCISCO – A San Jose Porshe owner has filed a class-action lawsuit against an auto manufacturer alleging that a defective part poses a safety hazard.

Paul B. Butler filed a complaint on behalf of himself and all others similarly situated on April 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Porsche Cars North America Inc., citing violation of the state's Unfair Competition Law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that his 2007 Porsche 911 was equipped with a defective alternator cable. The plaintiff holds Porsche Cars North America Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly manufactured their vehicles and sold them despite knowing the defect and failed to disclose those defects to their customers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, restitution, declaratory relief, equitable or injunctive relief, and all other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Roy A. Katriel of The Katriel Law Firm in Lo Jolla and Michael D. Braun of Braun Law Group PC in Los Angeles.
