mLab, MongoDB seek resolution in trademark dispute

SAN FRANCISCO – Two San Francisco tech companies seek the court's help in settling a trademark dispute.

Objectlabs Corp., doing business as mLab, filed a complaint for declaratory relief on April 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against MongoDB Inc.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff and the defendant were previously in a business relationship. The suit states the plaintiff formerly did business as MongoLab. The defendant alleges that the plaintiff has violates its trademark.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks declaration that plaintiff does not infringe any of the defendant's trademarks; permanently enjoin the defendant from instituting, prosecuting, or threatening any action against plaintiff; all legal fees; interest on every damage; and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Steven C. Carlson and Kevin M. Pasquinelli of Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP in Redwood City.
