SACRAMENTO – An insurer is seeking the cost of damages after an aircraft it insured crashed in Lincoln, alleging it was negligently inspected.

Williamsburg National Insurance Co. filed a complaint on May 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Rocket Engineering Corp., citing negligence and breach of express and implied warranties.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 21, 2014, it suffered damages in the amount of $550,000 as a result of paying for the damages on an aircraft it insured. The suit states that the defendant inspected the aircraft and deemed it in compliance, but the plaintiff alleges the aircraft was not fully airworthy at the time of inspection. The plaintiff holds Rocket Engineering Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently and carelessly performed the inspection and did not make repairs.

The plaintiff seeks full amounts paid by plaintiff to its insured for the subject aircraft, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Susan J. Welde and William T. DelHagen of Murchison & Cumming LLP in Los Angeles.
