SAN FRANCISCO – An insurance firm is suing federal national park and unknown defendant seeking reimbursement for a workers' compensation claim.
Sentinel Insurance Co. LTD filed a complaint on June 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Muir Wood National Monument park and Does 1-25 seeking subrogation to recover workers' compensation benefits.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 2, 2014, an employee of Cloudless Skies Parks Co., which had a policy through the plaintiff, was injured on the defendants' property and filed a claim for workers' compensation benefits. The plaintiff holds Muir Wood National Monument and Does 1-25 responsible because the defendants allegedly neglected their duty to maintain the facility, which caused injuries to the insured employee. The plaintiff claims it is entitled to reimbursement of the benefits from the defendants.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks paid benefits in the amount of $66,104.48 and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Norine Busser and Jenna L. Fischer-Reyes of Law Offices of John A. Hauser in Santa Ana.
