SAN FRANCISCO – A California nonprofit corporation has filed suit against two banks alleging they aided terrorism.
St. Francis Assisi filed a complaint on June 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Kuwait Finance House, Kuveyt-Turk Participation Bank Inc. and Hajjaj Al Ajmi alleging violation of the Antiterrorism Act and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that its members are Assyrian Christians who own property in Syria and Iraq. The plaintiff claims its members have been displaced to refugee camps and killed by members of ISIS. The plaintiff holds Kuwait Finance House, Kuveyt-Turk Participation Bank Inc. and Hajjaj Al Ajmi and Does 1 to 200 responsible because the defendants allegedly were involved in the financing and acquiring donations that ISIS raised on social networks. The defendants are also accused of being co-conspirators in the killing of plaintiff's members.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and general damages, special damages, punitive damages, restitution and disgorgement, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. It is represented by Mogeeb Weiss of Weiss Law PC in Alameda.
