SAN FRANCISCO – A California man has filed suit against three major social networks, alleging that they permitted a terrorist group to utilize their platforms.
Reynaldo Gonzalez, individually and as successor in interest of the estate of Nohemi Gonzalez, filed a complaint on June 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Twitter Inc., Google Inc. and Facebook Inc. alleging violations of federal code constituting acts of international terrorism.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Nohemi Gonzalez, his daughter, was killed during the attack on Paris in November 2015, which killed more than 125 people. The plaintiff holds Twitter Inc., Google Inc. and Facebook Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly allowed the terrorist group ISIS to use their social networks to gather other members. The defendants are accused of purposefully, knowingly or with willful blindness of providing the terrorist organization with material support in violation of federal law.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, treble damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Keith L.
