SACRAMENTO – A Solano individual alleges a university unlawfully contacted her on her cellphone.
Twonesha Johnson-Hendricks filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on June 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against University of Phoenix and Does 1-10 alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Aug. 12, 2015, and Aug. 13, 2015, she was contacted on her mobile telephone without her consent by the defendants. The plaintiff holds University of Phoenix and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly contacted plaintiff to solicit their services despite her number being registered with the National Do Not Call Registry.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages for each violation and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Todd M. Friedman and Adrian R. Bacon of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Beverly Hills.
