A&E Television Networks accused of infringing Fempire mark

Trademark 10

SAN FRANCISCO – The co-founders of a San Francisco business allege a cable television network has infringed its trademark.

Alta Tseng and Jessica Corbin filed a complaint on June 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against A&E Television Networks LLC alleging trademark infringement and unlawful, unfair and fraudulent business practices.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages to their Fempire LLC business as a result of a similarly named service being offered by the defendant. The plaintiffs holds A&E Television Networks LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to discontinue using plaintiffs' trademark after plaintiffs requested that it cease using the mark as this could cause confusion to consumers.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages, compensatory damages, enjoin the defendant from using plaintiffs' mark, treble damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Mark Punzalan and Herbert T. Patty of Punzalan Law PC in Redwood City.
