Individual sues attorney over alleged breach of contract

SAN FRANCISCO – A lawyer alleges he is owed money from another a lawyer.

Shaunak Sayta filed a complaint on July 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Benny Martin alleging breach of contract, unlawful business practices and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he hired the defendant to represent him in a legal matter in 2014. The plaintiff holds Martin responsible because the plaintiff claims the contract is now void and the defendant allegedly failed to return the $11,036.87 due.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount of $11,036.87, statutory damages, interest, all legal fees, punitive damages, and declaration that the agreement and its arbitration clause is void. He is representing himself.
