Man alleges DirectTV withdrew money without permission

Law money 04

SACRAMENTO – A man has filed a class-action complaint against a satellite provider alleging the company withdrew money from his banking account without permission.

Mark Bieber filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on July 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against DirectTV LLC alleging violation of the Electronic Funds Transfer Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in February, he canceled his service with the defendant and advised it to come collect its equipment. The plaintiff holds DirectTV LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly deducted $666.83 from plaintiff's account without authorization and without providing plaintiff any electronic writing regarding the transaction instead of collecting the equipment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000 per class member, actual damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Todd M. Friedman and Adrian R. Bacon of Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Beverly Hills.
