Valis Productions, The Dreamery alleged to owe contributions to labor funds

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County employer is alleged to have not paid contributions to labor union trust funds on behalf of its employees.

Board of directors of the Motion Picture Industry Pension Plan, board of directors of the Motion Picture Industry Individual Account Plan; board of directors of the Motion Picture Industry Health Plan filed a complaint on July 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Valis Productions, Nicole Ehrlich, individually and doing business as Valis Productions, and The Dreamery LLC alleging breach of contract and violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages as the result of unpaid contributions from the defendants. The plaintiffs holds Valis Productions, Ehrlich and The Dreamery LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay their contributions to the labor group on behalf of their covered employees.

The plaintiffs seek unpaid contributions in the amount of $11,238.88 plus interest of 1 percent per month, liquidated damages, audit costs of $2,400, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Elizabeth Rosenfeld, Kathryn J. Halford and Nicholas I. Starkman of Wohlner Kaplon Cutler Halford & Rosenfeld in Encino.
