LOS ANGELES – A Santa Barbara County woman is suing for damages after she claims the bike she was riding broke, causing injuries to her face.

Cynthia Walker filed a complaint on July 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Time Sport USA and Does 1-10 alleging product liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 31, 2014, she sustained severe physical injuries, including lacerations on her face and fracturing her teeth, when the bicycle she was riding broke when a twig caught in her front spokes. The plaintiff holds Time Sport USA and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to inspect the durability of its product before distributing to consumers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks noneconomic damages, economic damages, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Miles B. Cooper of Emison Hullverson LLP in San Francisco.
