Couture Textile Inc. accuses companies of selling garments with copyrighted designs

LOS ANGELES – A textile company based in Los Angeles alleges other companies sold garments using its copyrighted designs without authorization.

Couture Textile Inc. filed a complaint on July 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Rue 21 Inc.; Le Meilleur Inc., doing business as Miley and Molly; G Stage Love.com Inc., doing business as GS Love; and Does 1 through 10 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages as the result of its copyrighted designs being used without their authority. The plaintiff holds Rue 21 Inc.; Le Meilleur Inc., doing business as Miley and Molly; G Stage Love.com Inc., doing business as GS Love; and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sold garments from online stores to retail stores throughout the United States that bear plaintiff's designs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendants, award plaintiff all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Farhad Novian and Joseph A. Lopez of Novian & Novian LLP in Los Angeles.
