LOS ANGELES – A Rhode Island photographer alleges a Los Angeles business published her copyrighted images of entertainers on its website without permission.
Kristen Pierson filed a complaint on July 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against Epic Rights Inc. and Does 1-5 alleging copyright infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in December 2015, she suffered damages when she found out that her copyrighted images were being used without her authority by the defendant. The plaintiff holds Epic Rights Inc. and Does 1-5 responsible because the defendant allegedly used plaintiff's copyrighted images of the singer Dave Matthews, the band Mumford & Sons and others on its public website.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunction against the defendant, order the defendant to destroy all infringing copies of plaintiff's images, award actual damages to plaintiff plus profits derived from the allegedly unlawful act, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
