LOS ANGELES – A Placentia bar and restaurant is accused of using allowing counterfeit karaoke products in its establishment.
Phoenix Entertainment Partners LLC filed a complaint on Aug. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against The Minerva Group Inc., doing business as Rems Vegas Sports Lounge, and Does 1-10, alleging trademark infringement and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages as the result of counterfeit versions of its Sound Choice karaoke products and materials being used by the defendant. The plaintiff holds The Minerva Group Inc. and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly allowed contracted karaoke operators using counterfeit materials to operate within their property despite having knowledge of the infringement.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks award plaintiff damages, statutory damages per trademark infringed in an amount not less than $50,000 for each establishment and in the amount of $100,000 from each of the defendants, award plaintiff profits derived from the allegedly unlawful acts, injunctive relief against the defendant, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
