LOS ANGELES – A Palos Verdes Estates couple alleges a government health care facility failed to properly diagnose the husband's symptoms, resulting in further medical care.
Eugene Beau Michael Laporte Jr. and Sharyl W. Laporte filed a complaint on Aug. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against United States of America and Does 1-10 alleging malpractice.
According to the complaint, Eugene Beau Michael Laporte Jr. reported to the defendant's Veterans Affairs hospital in Long Beach in May 2014 complaining of chest pains, difficulty breathing and other ailments. The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to diagnose an aortic aneurysm, resulting in hospitalization and surgery in March 2015. The plaintiffs hold the United States of America and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to diagnose Eugene Beau Michael Laporte Jr.'s symptoms and provide immediate and proper treatment to him.
The plaintiffs seek noneconomic damages sustained by Eugene Beau Michael Laporte in the sum of $250,000, noneconomic damages suffered by Sharyl W. Laporte in the sum of $250,000, medical expenses, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Douglas N. Harty of Law Offices of Douglas N.
