LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County man has filed a class-action suit against a company that offers betting tips for sports events alleging it sent him spam texts.

Dave Alan filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Aug. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against The Insiders Group Inc., doing business as Bettormoves.com, Fred G. Huber Jr. and Does 1 through 10 alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in March, he sustained damages from being contacted several times on his cellular telephone by the defendants. The plaintiff holds The Insiders Group, Inc., Huber and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly sent spam advertisements and promotional offers to plaintiff via text message using an automatic telephone dialing system.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, injunctive relief, and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Todd M. Friedman, Meghan E. George and Adrian R. Bacon of The Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman PC in Woodland Hills.
