LOS ANGELES — A woman has filed suit against a creditor for allegedly contacting her numerous times on her cellphone.

Briana Valdez filed a complaint  Aug. 31 in theU.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Synchrony Bank, alleging that the creditor violated her rights under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 15, 2015, she began receiving unsolicited calls from the defendants in an attempt to allegedly collect debt. The calls were purportedly made using an automated telephone dialing system and the plaintiff claims the agents would not stop calling her no matter how many times she asked, resulting in multiple calls made for several days. The plaintiff claims these actions allegedly caused her severe emotional distress and mental anguish.

The plaintiff holds Synchrony Bank responsible because the defendant allegedly violated the rights of the plaintiff to privacy by calling numerous times a day using an automatic dialing system and caused the plaintiff to incur incoming call charges on her cellphone.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, statutory and actual damages, court costs, attorney's fees, interest and other relief that the court deems appropriate. She is represented by Stuart Price of Price Law Group APC in Encino.
