Los Angeles County woman alleged to owe more than $1,400 on education loan

LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County woman is alleged to owe on a student loan that defaulted in 1999.

United States of America, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Karie E. Schroder, also known as Karie Ellen Schroder, alleging that the individual failed to settle her debt with the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Schroder failed to pay the principal amount of her debt to plaintiff, including interest.

The plaintiff seeks principal amount of $1,436.68, interest in the sum of $103.17 with further interest at 7 percent per annum accruing at 28 cents per day, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by William I. Goldsmith and Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull APC in Northridge.
