Consumer claims Account Control Technology Inc. kept calling after revoking consent

LOS ANGELES – A Santa Ana consumer has filed a class-action lawsuit against a debt collector over allegations he continued to call him after he requested that the calls stop.

Theodore Emmons filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Sept. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Account Control Technology Inc. and Does 1 through 10 alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in October 2015, he was called several times by the defendant in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Account Control Technology Inc. and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to contact plaintiff and continued to do so after he revoked his consent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $500 in statutory damages, $1,500 in treble damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Todd M.
