Woman alleges Paypal wrong number calls are a nuisance

Phone 04

LOS ANGELES – A Compton consumer alleges a San Jose company keeps calling her in an attempt to reach another person.

Jessica Nieto filed a complaint on Sept. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Paypal Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between 2015 and 2016, the defendant called her numerous times. She alleges she has never had an account with the defendant and told it that it was calling a wrong number.  The plaintiff holds Paypal Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to contact the plaintiff's cellular telephone.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, treble damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Rory C. Leisinger of Leisinger Law LLP in Covina.
