Belava alleges two companies have copied patented pedicure products

LOS ANGELES – A Canoga Park company alleges two Los Angeles companies have copied its patented design for products used in pedicures.

Belava LLC filed a complaint on Sept. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Western Division against SkinAct, Dro Hartoonians and Does 1 through 10 alleging patent infringement, trade dress infringement and unfair competition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Belava LLC suffered damages to its business as the result of its patented plastic tubs and disposable liners for pedicure user being infringed. The plaintiff holds SkinAct, Dro Hartoonians and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly manufacture and sell tubs and liners that infringe plaintiff's patents and trade dress.

The plaintiff seeks enjoin the defendant from further infringing plaintiff's patents, order the defendant to destroy all goods that infringes plaintiff's patents, all damages, treble damages, actual damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
